Doppelganger is trans-disciplinary, finding its place at the intersections between art, performance, dance, music and literature. Through the establishment of a performative situation, the project seeks to break certain common codes of thought and to push the audience to reflect on questions of origin and social class. Through the use of simple language, albeit in a complex configuration, it aims to address a wide, multicultural, multilingual and diverse audience. The title plays with notions of duality, mimicry, synonyms, twins and lookalikes. It examines the question of concrete physical resemblance as well as the invisible one of character resemblance.
In 2021, Doppelganger Collective presented their work at Dogo Residenz in Lichtensteig, La Fonte in Carouge and at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris. In 2022, they presented their fourth performance at Le Groove in Geneva and will attend a residency at Lieu Commun in Lausanne this summer. This chapter presented at der TANK is their first performance in Basel.
Doppelganger is supported by a broadcasting bursary from the Geneva Cantonal Contemporary Art Fund (FCAC) and a research bursary from the Canton of Geneva.

Doppelganger ist transdisziplinär und an den Schnittstellen von Kunst, Performance, Tanz, Musik und Literatur angesiedelt. Durch das Schaffen einer performativen Situation versucht das Projekt, bestimmte gängige Denkmuster aufzubrechen und das Publikum dazu zu bringen, über Fragen der Herkunft und der sozialen Klasse nachzudenken. Durch die Verwendung einer einfachen Sprache, wenn auch in einer komplexen Konfiguration, soll ein breites, multikulturelles, mehrsprachiges und diverses Publikum angesprochen werden. Der Titel spielt mit den Begriffen Dualität, Mimikry, Synonyme, Zwillinge und Doppelgänger. Er untersucht sowohl die Frage der konkreten physischen Ähnlichkeit als auch die unsichtbare, charakterlichen Ähnlichkeit.
